MOORHEAD – A man here won $100,000 from a scratch off ticket he bought at Casey’s General Store on Thursday.
Wayne Winje was visiting his mom when he stopped by the Casey’s General Store at 707 37th Ave. S. in Moorhead. He bought a Casino Cash ticket and scratched off the numbers in the store’s parking lot, according to a press release from the Minnesota State Lottery.
Winje said he thought he had won “maybe $7” as he scratched off the winning numbers.
“I started [revealing the prize] on the left and thought, ‘Oh, it’s $1,000. I had to turn the light on in the car and saw it was $100,000,” Winje said in the release.
Winje claimed the prize at state lottery headquarters in Roseville on Saturday. The $100,000 is the top prize of the Casino Cash scratch game. Casino Cash costs $5 per ticket.
The odds of winning a prize by playing Casino Cash are 1 in 3.79, according to the Minnesota State Lottery.
Since 1990 the Minnesota State Lottery has generated more than $2.2 billion for state programs, and $1.3 billion has been paid into the state’s general fund.
