Sargent County (WDAY TV) -- As investigators continue piecing together the facts of what happened on a rural road in Sargent County, others are left asking how such a heinous act could happen.

"Loved ones say a night of drinking at a local bar escalated into something they couldn't imagine in their wildest dreams... An alleged homicide. "

Photos and memories are what friends and family of Reavis Dandrige are left with.

"Very happy, very easy going, he loved life."

Hannible Dennis/Victim's Uncle: "Awesome person, I never thought he would leave like this."

Authorities say the 28-year old, better known by his nickname 'Chase' was allegedly the victim of a homicide. We're told the hit and run happened here along County Road 2. In custody for the alleged attack 22-year old Dakota Sutton.

Hannible: "There's just no words to describe it, don't nobody need to be treated like I seen my nephew."

Dandrige's Uncle, Hannible Dennis says the two shared a tight bond - in fact, Dennis is the only reason Dandrige left his home in the Twin Cities.

Hannible: "He followed me up here because I told him how awesome Oakes was. This is a small town, peaceful and everyone gets along."

Now Dandrige's loved ones hope the community will rally together.

They're asking for donations to help pay for his body to be returned to Minnesota and laid to rest.

Dawn Wiek/Victim's Friend: "Trying to make sure he gets home to his mother and buried where he needs to be buried."

With Dandrige's death under investigation and Dakota Sutton behind bars for the alleged attack, it may be months before this case is closed. Sargent's State Attorney Lyle Bopp says Sutton could face more charges.

Dawn: "I want justice. I want his family to be at peace."

Closure for the friends and family Dandrige left behind, including his own children.
