Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Some important health information for those of you closely involved in the flood fight.
Health officials say it might be a good idea to have all of your shots up to date. Dealing with the water and sand could be dangerous if you get cut without having a Tetanus shot.
If you do get cut make sure to get medical attention immediately to clean the wound. Another thing you can do it to make sure you are physically prepared for the volunteer work.
Larry Anenson with Fargo Cass Public Health says, "sandbags are heavy, and it is important that people lift with their legs and not their back, it's very important as well to alternate different tasks."
As for that tetanus vaccine, it takes about 2 weeks after getting the shot to be fully protected.
