BRAMPTON, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a 28-year-old pedestrian who died after a hit-and-run accident early Sunday.
The accident occurred about 3 a.m. on County Road 2, a rural gravel road four miles south of Highway 11 near Brampton in Sargent County.
Reavis Dandridge of Oakes was taken to Oakes Hospital by a private party about 5 a.m. Sunday and was pronounced dead there a short time later, the patrol reported.
Dakota Sutton, 22, of Brampton, was being held at the Barnes County Jail on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind said.
No injuries were reported for Sutton, the patrol report said.
Sutton’s vehicle, a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup, had damage to its undercarriage, the patrol reported. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Sargent County Sheriff’s Office and Oakes Police Department are assisting in the investigation, the patrol reported.
