Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Bison fans might not know the names MJ Stumpf, Darius Anderson, or Demetrius Grey yet, but the goal is for young players like them to have a huge impact this fall.

That's what makes these spring practices so important for NDSU. With several key players out with injuries, the younger players are getting a chance to play with the first team. It's led to a lot of teaching on the field,

but the head coach is happy with the progress thru week one.

Craig Bohl - NDSU Head Coach: "We're so dog gone thin that we're probably not as refined as a football team as we should be. But, some of the points of emphasis I think we're making some progress. We need to develop some depth at some positions. Certainly offensive line is one of them. I think wide receiver is important also. So, we're pleased with that."

Kyle Emanuel - NDSU Jr. Defensive End: "That's where those young guys come in. They have to step up. We've had two long seasons in a row. Injuries happen, that's part of the game. So, we're just looking for some young guys to just step up and compete."
