Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- One of the other volunteers filling sandbags today was making a short pit-stop while on a long journey.

Travis Miller is biking around the United States. He left Duluth on April 1st and was watching the news last night in Detroit Lakes when he heard Fargo needed volunteers to fill sandbags.

He got on scene around noon today.

Miller says, "When I first started this trip and I was planning it out, I thought it was going to be about the places that I was going to see and things I wanted to see. I'm finding out really quickly that it's more about the people that I meet. So, this journey is already, in its early stages, really shocked me and surprised me."

Miller is technically making a big loop around the states, he's headed to Washington now before heading south. He expects the trip to take about six months.
