Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- When you put together a string of successful seasons as a Head Coach, you're bound to get noticed by bigger programs. NDSU saw it happen back in 2007, when Tim Miles got an offer he couldn't refuse from Colorado State. Now, it appears teams are looking at Miles replacement, Saul Phillips.

Phillips told the Forum's Jeff Kolpack that he interviewed with Ball State for it's head coaching position last week, but that's as far as it went.

Phillips will stay put at NDSU. The Cardinals announced they've hired Arizona assistant James Whitford to take over. Meanwhile, Phillips's Bison team returns all 5 starters from a team that won 24 games this season.

Phillips current contract expires in June, but he says talks of an extension are already underway.
