Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Organizers at Sandbag Central say they were a little worried going into today.

But a push for volunteers appears to have paid off. Hundreds of people showed up as individual walk-ins, keeping two sand spiders running for much of the day.

This was the first Saturday sandbag central has been open, which means, no busses full of school kids to help out. Representative Kevin Cramer even pitched in for the effort this morning.

Rep. Cramer says, "it's a big day in fargo and it's a great day for me to get over here to sandbag central and see the prep work, more importantly see the long term plans that fargo has for permanent relief so we can put our resources and energy other places."

This morning, there were only two groups, a total of 12 people, pre-registered.
