Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) -- Legislation requiring reporting abuse and neglect of senior citizens and other vulnerable adults has made its way through both the Senate and House.

On Friday the House voted 86-4 in favor of the bill. Supporters of the bill say the measure is intended to protect seniors from physical, mental, sexual and financial abuse.

Failure to report the abuse would result in a maximum fine of 5-hundred dollars. North Dakota and Colorado are the only states to not have this legislation in place.
