BISMARCK, North Dakota (AP) — A report by the North Dakota Department of Commerce shows that the state has created more than 100,000 new jobs since 2000.

The figures show that North Dakota had an average employment count of 429,800 in 2012, compared to 327,700 workers in 2000. That's an increase of more than 31 percent.

The report says the state added 70,000 jobs in the last five years, including 33,000 in 2012.

Commerce Commissioner Al Anderson says he expects more jobs to be created as the state focuses on "greater economic diversification."
