Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- As weather begins warming up, panhandlers in Fargo are already taking full advantage, despite a city ordinance.

Police say today was the first they'd heard about beggars back on the streets.

Last fall, the city passed a new ordinance, banning panhandling from within 10-feet of any intersection, or highway on and off ramps.

It's also prohibited from any median, bridge, or tunnel. As well as within 20-feet of any school.

So authorities want to remind people of the rules, before problems get worse.

LT. Pat Claus- Fargo Police: “We will start to see it if and when it gets warmer, in Fargo here, and we will use a number of tactics, both education and enforcement to try to address that issue.>

Violators can face a fine of 50 dollars. Or aggressive panhandlers can be criminally charged and fined 500 dollars.
