Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A group of about 30 people gathered in Fargo to protest Senator Heidi Heitkamp's support of the Keystone Pipeline.

The crowd stood outside the Fargo Post Office and expressed their concerns about the pipeline extension, which would cross from Canada through several states to Nebraska.

They say the pipeline would make climate change worse, and be detrimental to the environment.

Sarah Vlasak- Concordia Environmental Studies Major: "I think the pipeline is extremely environmentally harmful. There are so many things that are wrong with it, and there are so many myths about it that are so untrue."

Gordon Cloud- Fargo Resident: "It ain't right and I will fight until I die. Because my children still have to grow up."

Heitkamp says the pipeline is an essential part of the transportation of energy.

She also says a state department study found no evidence the pipeline would cause significant harm.
