Lisbon, ND (WDAY TV) - Two hundred students at Lisbon elementary are going to sleep well tonight.

They took part in a school wide "Jump for Heart". For the past several days, the students have been learning about the importance of nutrition, exercise and staying away from tobacco, all part of an American Heart Association project to reach out to children early.

The students also go out into the community and raise money for the organization. The project has special meaning this year.

Angie Williams, Lisbon Teacher: “Impacted us, Mr. Howell teaches Phy Ed, is well loved and did a lot of for heart disease. He had a heart attack. He is a survivor and doing great.”

The project is also in memory of a recent Lisbon student who died just days ago from a heart attack. The students raised 87-hundred dollars for the heart association. Because of the success, the principal gets covered in ice cream and toppings.
