HARWOOD, N.D. – Floodwater is spilling over Interstate 29 north of here this morning, closing one lane in each direction and slowing traffic.

Crews are watching the road, and drivers are advised to slow down, said Bob Walton, North Dakota Department of Transportation district engineer.

About two miles are under water from mile marker 76 to 78. Depths vary, but are about 3 or 4 inches, said Sgt. Troy Hischer of the Highway Patrol.

Drivers should travel about 10 to 15 mph, Walton said.

Crews will monitor conditions throughout the day to ensure the roadway remains safe, but a detour is possible, Walton said.
