Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- It's elite company. An app designed by a group of nine 6th graders from the STEM Center in West Fargo has been chosen out of 470 submissions nationwide.

The group's Recycle Bin App has been named one of the best in the Verizon Innovative App Challenge. The app is designed to make it easier to recycle in our area.

The next step for the group is meeting with MIT students to help finish the app, and then present it this summer in Orlando.

Joram Stith - Team Leader of the Recycle Bin App: "The app we designed is supposed to help with recycling in the community, which is a big need. It's supposed to help people know when to recycle and where to recycle."

The school was also awarded a $10,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation.
