Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- NDSU and UND football fans will get a fix of pigskin over the next month. Yes, believe it or not, both squads are scheduled to open spring drills tomorrow and they're hoping to avoid an interruption from mother nature.

With a flood being forecast again this year, it brings back memories of 2009,

when players passed sandbags instead of footballs.

It also led to the Bison moving practices around, sometimes practicing in the sports bubble. NDSU went on to struggle that fall, winning just 3 games.

And head coach Craig Bohl admits that spring had an effect on his program.

Coach Bohl says, "You know, you're coaching in the moment and trying to stay positive. You're saying we're going to be resourceful and resilient. That had a huge impact, there was a lot of things that went wrong that next year. But, that had a huge impact. Now, I think we're in a better position as an athletic department. And, I think quite frankly that the city is in a different position, too."
