Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - More people in Cass and Clay counties will be served by the United Way.
The organization has announced major changes to its investment strategies. It's taking a more collaborative approach to how and where investments are made.
Now, the targeted areas will be education, income, and health. Rather than only non-profits being able to receive assistance from the organization, other areas like social workers and community partners can receive funds.
Sher Thomsen, United Way President: “It's something we have been considering, the leadership has been considering for some time, but we just really believe that if we're going to end hunger and homelessness, or those complex community needs that face us here that we need to have an approach that lasts beyond a funding cycle and we need to make sure we have more organizations that are involved in these issues then the just one to one relationship.”
United Way has launched a collaborative with the Jefferson Neighborhood. It'll cover organizations to help prepare children for kindergarten, build sustainability, and create safe and affordable housing options.
