West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Because West Fargo is growing, the parks department says a new aquatics center should come next.

Tonight, city, parks, and school leaders all met to go over a facility's feasibility study. They say the new center would be home to a competitive swimming pool, indoor water park, gym, and walking track.

They hope to build it near Freedom Elementary, close to Costco. The project could cost more than $20 million.

Justin Germundson, WF Parks Business Manager: “We have some land available south of the interstate and that's where a lot of growing families and stuff are at and so we took some school needs and park needs for some south side attractions and then the city is interested just for some economic development, having kind of a regional aquatic facility.”

Before construction could begin, the public would have to vote on a half-percent sales tax to help cover costs.
