Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Construction season has kicked off in Minnesota and It's shaping up to be a busy season. In West Central Minnesota there are 31 projects scheduled in 12 counties totaling $75 million.
During construction season delays are expected. Starting May 20th drivers in Moorhead will once again be seeing the impacts.
One of the biggest projects for our area will be this one, along Main Avenue in Moorhead. Work will be finished from last years attempted project. Last year the project was stalled because of an overpriced bid.
That bid was about 6.5 million. The project will now cost 4.8 million. The city is responsible for about 1 million.
MNDOT is set to Resurface Main Avenue between 4th street and 8th street. Six traffic signals along Main and Center Avenue will be replaced. There will be a newly installed crosswalk signal on 8th street at 10th Avenue.
Jesse Miller, Project Engineer: “They'll be doing lane closures, shoulder closures, you know we are going to try and impact it as least as we can, but you know we got to get in there and get the work done as quick as we can. You'll see it similar to last years on the Main Avenue portion that they did where they had one lane closed at a time or two lanes and had the centers open.”
The main focus of the project is to improve the roads and pedestrian accessibility. The project should wrap up this September.
