Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Abortion-rights advocates say the measures signed today are an attempt to close the state's only abortion clinic in Fargo. The Red River Women's Clinic is calling the Governor's move an extreme attack on women's health.

These new laws aren't effective until August, but this clinic is ready to fight now. The Center for Reproductive Rights backs the clinic, claiming anti-choice politicians are aiming to shutdown North Dakota's only abortion provider. They say the goal of these laws is to block women's access to safe and legal abortion.

The clinic is prepared to take any steps necessary to keep their services available, including challenging these laws in Supreme Court.

Tammi Kromenaker – Red River Women’s Clinic: "It is clearly unconstitutional, and the Supreme Court has repeatedly held that no state may limit abortion prior to viability despite numerous opportunities to do so."

To fight a legal battle as big as this, it's estimated it will cost up to $4 million.
