(WDAY TV) -- Who knew learning could be so much fun. The challenge of this physic class was to make their cardboard boats, float.

2-person teams designed, and constructed the boats. The teacher said they were so excited for the competition. As you can see, some failed. But some succeeded to make it from one end of the LE Berger pool, to the other.

Michelle Strand, Physics teacher, says, "really fun to see them figure out how big their boat had to be, how tall their sides had to be, doing the calculations, but also having fun with the creativity."

Emma Kolb, West Fargo Junior, says, "OK there is some physics involved, but I think it's more fun than the actual physics, like you don't notice the work, and it's fun to race against your teammates."

This was the inaugural regatta. I think there will be more.
