Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - As we first told you yesterday, the North Dakota State High School Activities Association and Forum Communications will start negotiations soon on televising next year's state tournaments.

Forum Communications, which owns WDAY and WDAZ-TV, put a bid in last week to the Activities Association on a five year contract to broadcast football, hockey and the Class A and B basketball tournaments.

Sherm Sylling, NDHSAA Executive Secretary: “The board had determined they wanted to go through the bidding process and as part of process there's money, can't be always be about money, but when there's more money on the table it's also hard to ignore the board represents the member schools. The board yesterday approved continuing negotiating with the new company. We'll go from there and it's not a done deal but we're going to hammer out a contract and go from there.”

Sylling says that he hopes to have a deal completed by April 23rd so that he then can present it to the board for approval at their next meeting.
