Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Area boy scouts and other volunteers went door to door collecting food today for the annual Scouting for Food Drive in Grand Forks.

Informational door hangers were dropped off at hundreds of homes on Thursday.

Participants simply placed a bag filled with non-perishable food items on their door step for the scouts to pick up. All of the food goes to local food banks.

Anyone who didn't receive a door hanger may still drop off items at a Gate City Bank location or purchase ready-made bags at Hugo's and Super One stores.

Nathen Peterfeso, Boy Scouts District Director: “Our food shelves are running low. It's always a good thing. Our scouts are taught to get out and do a good turn and this is one of our service projects to help provide some support to our community.”

The food drive ends March 31st.
