Experts say to follow the 3 C's: Calm, Connected and Control

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If you're worried about another flood hitting the valley, that's normal. But there are things to do, to keep your emotions in check.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If you're worried about another flood hitting the valley, that's normal. But there are things to do, to keep your emotions in check.

The American Red Cross says follow the three C's. Calm, Connected and Control.

Experts say staying calm by directing your energy toward action, which can help your community prepare. Staying in touch and knowing what to expect can alleviate stress and so can having confidence you can cope with the flood.

Dr. Kit O'Neill with the American Red Cross says, "You're going to want to remember that we've been through this many times before. People will come together and help each other. And we can stay calm by staying connected to that care about us. And we can all do this together."

Dr. O'neill says you may not be able to control where the flood waters go, but you can control how you respond.
