Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The North Dakota legislature has passed another abortion bill. This one says human life begins at conception.
It's one of a series of bills lawmakers have passed. Others include banning abortions because of genetic defects, and when a fetal heart is detected, which can be as early as 6-weeks.
Abortion rights groups say the bills are unconstitutional, and clearly violate the Supreme Court's ruling that legalized abortion until a fetus is viable, which is usually 22 to 24-weeks.
Fargo's abortion clinic says this could force women into panic mode.
Tammi Kromenaker, Clinic Director, says, "Anytime there is talk about this women do get concerned. And women do call to say is it still legal, can I come and see you and they are rushing in to get their appointments, they're clamoring because they are afraid it's going to be taken away soon. Which is unfortunate because then they are not taking the time that they need to think it through all of their options, talk with their family."
The proposed law will appear on the ballot as a proposed constitutional amendment. Tonight at ten, our reporter, Andrea Hubbell takes a closer look at what this all means.
