Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) -- An emotional homecoming in Bismarck today for the 818th engineer company.

This afternoon hundreds gathered patiently waiting forth arrival of the troops. Once the soldiers walked off the plane, the crowd went wild, and hugs and kisses were shared by everyone.

Kristen Lutz came all the way from Arizona to welcome her brother back home.

Lutz says, "I was here when they took off, and I think it's just important that I'm here when they come back, he's my little brother so I should be here."

The 818th lost two members during their mission to Afghanistan. Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde and Specialist Tyler Orgaard were killed in December. The National Guard will have a formal welcome home celebration for the returning soldiers early this summer.
