Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Another Furlough is set to go through for the National Guard. It's part of $85 billion dollars in mandatory federal budget cuts, known as the sequester. Salary Hours for Federal Technicians are now on the chopping block.

If the Furloughs go through more then 200 Air National Guard members from the base right here in Fargo will be affected.

In the state of North Dakota, there are more than 600 federal technicians who will be impacted by the potential furlough. More than a third are Air National Guard, who are primarily in Fargo, and the remainder are Army National Guard.

The furlough saves the Department of Defense 2 point 6 million dollars, money it needs for its budget.

For each guard member is a 20 percent reduction in salary. That's a cut of 1 day a week or 8 hours.

John Dougherty/119th Operations Guard Commander: "The negative impacts is that theoretically I have just lost from my Federal Technicians a 20 percent of their efforts towards what it is and what it takes for me to do my mission here, and keep in mind that we are becoming leaner and leaner and leaner."

As of this morning The Department of Defense is re-examining the furlough. It wouldn't take effect until the first weeks of May .

There are More than 275 in Bismarck and nearly 70 in Devils Lake. About 30 other impacted technicians work in Carrington, Grand Forks, Jamestown, or Valley City. Officials Say the furlough will have no affect on flood fighting efforts.
