West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Here's a sign of flood preparations. The Sheyenne River in West Fargo is on the rise.
The public Works department there says the Bald Hill Dam is dumping water into the river to lower the reservoir's level and make room for the spring melt.
Chris Brungardt, West Fargo Public Works: “There's going to be more retention in the dam and it's also starting to break up the ice on the Sheyenne River for us.”
Water levels aren't expected to rise much more. Brungardt says the flowing water will help decrease any chance of ice jams.
