Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A former bookkeeper for the Northwestern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA and a farm outreach charity was in court for the first time today on charges he swindled them out of $600,000.
Sixty-one year-old Robert Duane Larson is charged with felony theft and felony check forgery. Larson allegedly forged checks from the Moorhead-based Synod to Rural Life Outreach and used the money to remodel his Wolverton, Minnesota home.
Bishop Larry Wohlrabe, the head of the Synod, says they feel hopeful the court process will help the Synod heal.
