Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo and Moorhead are struggling to find common ground when it comes to the 12th Avenue toll bridge and they have to make a decision quick.
As soon as June 1st hits, the deal goes out the window for both Fargo and Moorhead, who are looking to buy the bridge, but there are a few kinks to work out first.
Like how much the city wants to invest in the bridge. Right now, $100,000 is still owed. You can tack on another $350,000 for administration fees. Not to mention the back taxes both cities would have to pay off.
Tonight, money wasn't their concern. At the city commission meeting, Mayor Walaker insisted the bridge must be inspected before they move forward.
Kip Moore, Bridge Owner: "I don't think they've looked at the reports. I inspect every two years, underwater every five years. Last underwater inspection was in 2011, last annual inspection was last year.”
If there isn't a decision by either city before June, the Bridge Company will continue to operate.
