Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The NDSU men's basketball team has at least one more game to play but it's not in the tournament they were hoping for.
After the Bison fell in the Summit League championship to SDSU, they turned
their attention to the NIT.
But the NIT left the Bison on the sideline, despite an RPI rating of 79,
higher than several teams that were selected for the field.
NDSU was instead selected for the CBI for the 2nd straight year and will play at Western Michigan, but the head coach couldn't hide his frustration over where they're heading.
Saul Phillips, NDSU Head Coach, says, "We deserve RPI wise to be in the NIT, it's disappointing; it skews toward the higher major schools; simply
because they get a chance towards top 100 wins at home in conference 7-8 times a year we don't get those opportunities it's the way the system is."
Marshall Bjorklund says, "We played postseason game last year obviously
we didnt expect to last year we knew we were going to get into a tournament for sure and think we can make some noise."
No Summit League team made the NIT; we'll have more on Western Michigan tonight at 10....
