Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Looks have been deceiving today when it comes to this late winter blizzard.

A look out the window and you might question the strength of those winds.

But travel anywhere beyond the immediate metro area, and you get a much different picture.

This is what it looked like at 52nd avenue south in Fargo...near 45th street.

Fargo city plows were busy trying to keep roads open, but as quickly as they worked, the streets filled in again with snow drifts.

The drifting was especially bad in the newer developments.

Tom Ganje, City of Fargo plow driver, "you don't even know were you are at sometimes, it is so bad so you really have to watch out and be careful."

Fargo plows made it through the entire city by early afternoon, clearing 19-hundred miles of streets.
