Area River Levels and Forecast (04/06)

Grand Forks

The Red River at Grand Forks/East Grand Forks stands at 36.8 ft. Flood stage is 28 ft. NWS predicts that the Red could reach major flood stage, 46 ft., by this Sunday. NWS has upped its outlook for the Red at GF/EGF, now saying it could reach 50.8 ft. by next Wednesday. NWS says it could rise to 52 ft. by the end of next week.

The flood walls in GF/EGF protect the city up to 63 ft. With a projected rise above 48 ft., the Point and Sorlie Bridges will likely have to be closed by this weekend. Water begins to approach the Kennedy Bridge at a level of 52.6 ft.

In 1997, the Red reached 54.40 ft.

Fargo

The Red at Fargo is at 32.79 ft. It is now in major flood stage. NWS predicts it could reach 39.5 ft. by Sunday. In 2009, the Red at Fargo crested at 40.84 ft. The second highest crest was 39.72 ft. in April 1997.

NWS is projecting a crest at Fargo of 39-41 ft. by Sunday into Monday. NWS says once the river rests, it's expected to remain above major flood stage for two to three weeks.

Other area levels

From south to north

Red River at Wahpeton: 15.48 ft. Flood stage: 10 ft. Projected to reach 15.7 ft. by sometime Wednesday before receding around Monday.

Wild Rice River at Abercrombie: 25.94 ft. Flood stage: 10 ft. Projected to reach 26 ft. overnight Wednesday before receding by Sunday. Major flooding stage is 18 ft.

Sheyenne River at Kindred: 18.03 ft. Flood stage: 16 ft. Projected to be near moderate flood stage at 21 ft., by Saturday.

Maple River at Enderlin: 12.06 ft. Flood stage: 9.5 ft. Projected to be near major flood stage, around 13.5 ft., by between Friday night and Saturday.

South Buffalo River at Sabin: 15 ft. Flood stage: 12 ft. Projected to be near 15.5 ft., by Monday.

Buffalo River at Hawley: 8.32 ft. Flood stage: 7 ft. Projected to be around 10 ft. by Sunday.

Maple River near Mapleton: 909.74 ft. Flood stage: 905 ft. Projected to be near major flooding stage, 910 ft., by sometime Friday.

Buffalo River near Dilworth: 22.6 ft. Flood stage: 12 ft. Projected to begin receding by Friday.

Sheyenne River at Harwood: 889.87 ft. Flood stage: 884 ft. Projected to be around major flood stage, 891 ft., by Thursday into Friday.

Wild Rice River at Hendrum: 29.31 ft. Flood stage: 20 ft. Projected to be near major flood stage, 32 ft., by Friday into Saturday.

Red River at Halstad: 33.14 ft. Flood stage: 26 ft. Projected to be around 40 ft., within major flood stage, by sometime Sunday.

Goose River at Hillsboro: 9.51 ft. Flood stage: 10 ft.

Marsh River at Shelly: 17.81 ft. Flood stage: 14 ft. Projected to be near major flood stage, 23 ft., by Saturday before receding.

Red Lake River at Crookston: 17.99 ft. Flood stage: 15 ft. Projected to stay within flood stage, reaching near 22 ft. by Monday. NWS predicts a crest of 21-23 ft. sometime early next week.

Red River at Oslo: 33.58 ft. Flood stage: 26 ft. Projected to reach 37.8 ft., within major flooding stage, by Monday into Tuesday. NWS projects a rise to 38 ft. by the middle of next week, but will stay at that level for some time.

Park River at Grafton: 10 ft. Flood stage: 12 ft. Projected to reach moderate flood stage, 13.5 ft, by Tuesday.

Red River at Drayton: 35.16 ft. Flood stage: 32 ft. Projected to reach moderate flood stage, 38 ft., by Saturday. Could be nearing major flood stage, 42 ft., by Tuesday.

Two Rivers River at Hallock: 807.11 ft. Flood stage: 802 ft. Projected to reach around 808 ft. by Friday or Saturday. Major flood stage is 810 ft.

Roseau River at Roseau: 14.65 ft. Flood stage: 16 ft. Projected to be nearing moderate flood stage, 18 ft., by Sunday.

Red River at Pembina: 42.25 ft. Flood stage: 42 ft. Projected to be in moderate flood stage at 47.9 ft., by Tuesday or Wednesday. NWS says a crest is possible late next week but hasn't been predicted yet.
