CASSELTON, N.D. – Authorities seized more than 2 pounds of marijuana while executing a search warrant Wednesday at a home in Casselton, leading to the arrest of a 54-year-old man, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Two adults and a young child were found in the home when sheriff’s detec-tives, Fargo police and the Cass County Drug Task Force served the warrant.

Russell Utvick of Cassel-ton was arrested and arraigned today in Cass County District Court on charges of marijuana possession with intent to deliver, methamphetamine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $7,500, which Utvick posted for his release, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.

The child was placed in protective custody.

Sheriff’s Detective Matthew Giddings said tips led to the search warrant. More than $400 in cash was seized in addition to the drugs, he said.

Authorities believe the marijuana seized is high-grade medical marijuana but won’t know for sure until it’s tested, Giddings said.

On March 5, Moorhead police executing a search warrant in Dilworth alleg-edly found 32 pounds of marijuana, the largest stash of pot the department has seized. Lt. Tory Jacobson told The Forum the pot was high-grade medical marijuana from California, and he and Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel agreed there has been a noticeable increase in marijuana imported into the community from states that have legalized marijuana.
