MOORHEAD – A Moorhead man has bailed out of jail after being arrested Wednesday for beating an 11-year-old girl with a belt and spanking her as many as 10 times a day.
Tyler James Otterson, 24, was charged March 7 in Clay County District Court with felony malicious punishment of a child.
Court documents filed in the case say the girl told police that a year ago, Otterson and another adult duct taped the girl’s mouth and hands.
Court records also state that Otterson has a prior misdemeanor domestic assault conviction and felony terroristic threats conviction from 2010 against the girl’s mother.
Otterson posted $5,000 bail and was released on conditions, including no contact with the victim.
