Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Flood Diversion Authority is speaking out about legislation that could mean more years of severe flooding for the Valley.

Board members met for a monthly updates meeting in Fargo to talk about amendments to a House Bill they're hoping doesn't pass. If it does the diversion project could stop.

Board members also discussed progress on plans for the Oxbow area levee...

They say they're in the process of organizing one-on-one meetings with homeowners, but the amendments could stop that project, too.

Dennis Walaker, Fargo Mayor, says, "they have some concerns. c'mon guys. you have to understand, when you look east from the clubhouse, there's nothing left."

They say if the amendments pass, construction for the ring dike could not begin until at least 2015.
