BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota students at the University of Mary's campus in Rome say it's exciting to be in the city during an historic time for the Roman Catholic Church.

Cardinals on Wednesday elected a new pope in a conclave at Vatican City in Rome. Mary student Shane Dukart, of Killdeer, says to witness the process firsthand is "incredible." Student Lindsey Stein, of Hankinson, says it's a great time in her life.

The University of Mary's main campus is in Bismarck. Twenty students are studying at the school's Rome campus, which opened in 2010.
