BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Senate may vote Friday on a pair of anti-abortion measures already approved by the House.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday gave a "do-pass" recommendation to a House bill that would prevent women from having abortions based on gender selection or a genetic defect like Down syndrome. The Senate committee also recommended passage of a House bill that would ban doctors from performing an abortion if a fetal heartbeat is detected.
The committee gave a 4-3 "do pass" recommendation on both measures.
