Sioux Falls, SD (WDAY TV) - It also could be a history making night for the NDSU men's basketball team, one win away from a 2nd trip to the NCAA Tournament, but standing in its way is rival South Dakota State. WDAY 6's Jody Norstedt has Bison head coach Saul Phillips.

Back in 2009, this was all new to Saul Phillips, and his team walked off the court as a champion. Tonight, he's taking his own advice on how to handle the title game hype.

Saul Phillips – 5-3 Career Summit League Tournament Record: “Forget what's on the other side of it right now, keep it as simple as playing basketball. I know emotions will be running high on both ends. What you try to do is get through it as quick as you can and make it about a basketball game and not about an event."

Jody: “When you see SDSU, the first thing you think of is Nate Wolters, but he's sharing the ball well right now. How do you control him tonight?”

Saul Phillips: “We did a pretty good job of it at our place, a pretty good job of it for 30 minutes at their place before things got away from us a little bit. You're not gonna shut down them like UMKC or WIU, it's gonna be a completely different style of game.”

Jody: “SDSU fans are expected to take over this building tonight. Is this a Bison team that can tune that crowd out?”

Saul Phillips: “We went into Assembly Hall with 16,000 screaming at us, so what different does it make? I tell you what...this team, more than any other I've been around, is more worried about themselves.”

Jody: When the season started, you knew the bar was gonna be a little higher with this team. You had a lot of veterans back. Have they met those expectations yet?”

Saul Phillips: “We have a huge game in front of us. It is what is; you win it and you walk away from it completely fulfilled.”
