Milnor wins first state B championship 67-60

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Milnor took control early in the third quarter to beat Four Winds-Minnewaukan 67-60 to claim the school's first North Dakota boys Class B basketball championship on Saturday.

A 14-6 run to open the second half gave the Bison and 14-point lead and Milnor held off a late comeback bid.

The Indians (24-3) closed the third quarter on a 12-3 run to pull within five points, but could only close to within four in the final quarter.

Tournament MVP Briton Bussman scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Milnor (22-6). Landon Mund added 12 points and Wyatt Mund posted a double double with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

Four Winds-Minnewaukan got 24 points from Austin Longie, 11 points and 12 rebounds from Collin Delorme and 12 points from Hadley Smith.

The Indians came into the title game on an 18-game winning streak.

The Bison were playing in their third state title game, having finished as runners-up in 1966 and 2004.
