Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Fargo and Cass County leaders may have made some headway out in Bismarck, fighting amendments to a bill that they say could kill the diversion project.

House Majority Leader Al Carlson is now saying he's open to contributing more state funds toward the project. Meaning Fargo leaders could get the 450-million dollars they requested.

But part of the amendment is the city can't use the funds for the diversion.

Carlson had said he wants the federal government to commit before the state does.

The bill with the amendments is currently in the Senate Appropriations Committee.
