Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- No question the biggest celebrity at the Sportsmen's Show has paws.

Twiggy, the Water-Skiing Squirrel, not only shows off his athletic abilities, but brings a life-saving message to the children attending his show.

"Let's see if we can find a squirrel."

For 33-years Lou Ann best has made squirrels stars.

"Here he is."

This Twiggy is number 7.

"We want to make sure Twiggy is nice and safe out there."

Lou Ann's re-entry into show business, started shortly after her Twiggy Show partner and husband Chuck died in a boating accident 1997.

Lou Ann Best/Twiggy's mom: "His step father fell off the boat, he did not know how to swim of float, or have life jacket husband jumped in to help. Drowning people don't meant to hurt you they climb on top of you and knock you out, they will drown you."

Lou Ann was lonely, in pieces and thought she was done with the Twiggy Show, until.

"I quit, I did not think I could do this. I was so shy."

She figured out she could use the skiing squirrel to send out a story of safety to kids. Wear life jackets.

"We teach water safety, boat safety we teach kids how to float and try to make a difference."

And so, the bushy tailed eastern gray squirrel is called to catch a wave and tour around the pool as kids sit mesmerized at what they sea.

"Go twiggy."

A pet so human like, it feels like a Saturday morning cartoon.

"One more to go Twiggy."

Lou Ann: "If you have the life jacket on, the whole time you are on the boat, you can jump in and help and be safe."

The squirrel has been on every national and world news and entertainment show there is. Always willing to ski. And share the sobering reminder that a life jacket is worn to save.

You can catch Twiggy at performances tonight at 7:30, and tomorrow at Noon, 2:30 and 6. As well as three times Sunday afternoon. All at the Sportsmen's Show at the FargoDome.
