WEST FARGO - School district officials said Wednesday a threatening phone call to Freedom Elementary's school office at 1:45 p.m. sent the school into lockdown mode, and police responded to investigate the threat and help students get home.

Students who ride the school bus were escorted onto buses by police, according to a school spokeswoman, and parents should expect a delay in their children's usual homecoming time.

Students who walk were being kept in the school until police deemed there was no further threat.

The school superintendent and the school principal are both on scene, the spokeswoman said.
