Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - This week, city leaders are traveling to Bismarck in support of the Flood Diversion Project. After House Bill #1020 passed without funding for the diversion included, Fargo commissioners are hoping lawmakers will reconsider.

Officials like Darrell Vanyo will give testimony on Friday giving reasons why funding for the needs to be included. Vanyo says they'll do what they can to get the diversion built.

Darrell Vanyo – Cass County Commissioner: "We've faced obstacles in the past to get where we are at and we'll meet this challenge. Somewhere here in the near future, we'll be heading to Washington D.C. to seek authorization and funding.”

Vanyo and other leaders are fighting to keep funding for a 500 year level protection plan against flooding.
