Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Moorhead city officials are sending out a strict warning, move your cars from snow emergency routes, or risk being towed.

The advisory began at midnight and runs through Tuesday morning. With a winter storm warning currently covering the Valley. Moorhead city officials are doing everything they can to make sure roads are clear.

But they're asking for your help. In order for plows to get through primary routes, people are asked to avoid parking on streets marked with snow emergency signs. Or if their cars are already there, drivers are supposed to get them out of the way, or they could end up at the impound.

Moorhead city manager Michael Redlinger says they will avoid towing if possible, but if cars are not moved, there may be no other way to get around them.

Michael Redlinger, Moorhead City Manager, says, "especially where there are a lot of apartments or just more density of cars, that's where we primarily see some of those cars. But hopefully getting the word out a little bit earlier will encourage people to get cars out of the way, and help us get to it a little bit faster as well."

Towing is possible all the way up until Tuesday morning. As of now, Moorhead does not have a snow removal declaration in the Blue Snow District.
