Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Experts are saying the F-M area could see a drastic spike in population in the next 30 years.

A study from the F-M Metropolitan Council of Governments shows, the metro will grow from its current population of nearly 209-thousand to between 270 and 300-thousand people by 2040.

The higher end happens if the local economy stays on a roll as the nation lags. Lower end being if the national economy revs up.

And both scenarios are based on the giant assumption that the F-M diversion channel gets built.
