(WDAY TV) -- Students have prepared for years. Now, they're hoping their education in car-repair will help them win a competition.

There's an automotive skills competition going on at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. 24 High school students from schools like Valley City, and Wahpeton, are showing off their knowledge when it comes to cars.

Students race between 12 stations, repairing engines, taking exams, and putting their education to the test.

Duane Haselborst says, "See how learning in the classroom has helped you learn outside the class. So fun experience."

The competition also gives students a chance to see the MSCTC facilities, and prepare for upcoming competitions.
