Fargo-Moorhead (WDAY TV) - Twenty-six Fargo-Moorhead hotels are stepping up to help people and families in need because of disaster. They're donating more than 200 rooms to the American Red Cross.

The "Rooms for the Red Cross" campaign helps victims of disasters by giving them a place to stay until they get back on their feet. Last year in the Minn-Kota region, the Red Cross helped almost 1,000 people who lost their homes or apartments because of fire or other disasters.

Judy Green – Red Cross CEO: “When you experience something like a home fire, and you lose and it's unexpected, and you lose so much, you're just looking for that place of comfort. It's one less thing you have to worry about, and it's almost the initial thing you think about: Where am I going to be? Where am I going to live?

Last year, 189 rooms were donated by area hotels.
