Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Another team with a big reason to smile is the Moorhead wrestling squad. Moorhead went 13-4 in duals this season and they've won 9 straight.
The last of those 9 wins was in the section championship, and it sent the Spuds to state for the first time since 1981 ending a 31 year drought.
Skip Toops – Moorhead Head Coach: “We worked hard in the offseason, worked our butts off all year long and we really emphasized that team part and getting after it. That was our goal.”
Joey Carpenter – Moorhead Senior, 160 lbs: “It feels great. Feel it's really a stepping stone for to keep coming back and coming back to state.”
Chase Morlock – Moorhead Senior, 195 lbs: “It's amazing. It's kind of like a little relief. My dad was on the last team that went to state, so I gotta give him a little crap for it. So it's fun.”
