Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Private contractors may soon get the chance to make some money while removing snow from streets in Moorhead.
The city took a lot of heat during our last storm from homeowners who say their streets were unplowed for more than a day. The city has 12 full time street department workers - five fewer than five years ago and more developments to clean out. Officials are looking at paying private contractors who have angle blades on trucks to do some of the snow plowing and removal.
Chad Martin – Moorhead Public Works: “Cul de sacs chew up a lot of our time, we put 50 hours doing cul de sacs every time and that is a lot of time so if we get that off our plate we can get on the street areas and get that cleared up.”
No timeline is set and details have to be worked out on hiring the crews.
